“Great people do things before they’re ready. They do things before they know they can do it… You might find out something about yourself that’s really special and if you’re not good, who cares? You tried something.” – Amy Poehler
I wanted to start my first post with a little introduction about myself and there’s no better way to start off than with a little Amy Poehler, a.k.a. the Queen. This is a whole new adventure in my (not always) crazy life and I couldn’t think of a better way to summarize it. Who knows, maybe this will be the best blog you’ve ever come across in the history of blogs, and maybe it won’t be (if this is how you feel, you’re wrong and I hate you, no bias), but either way, I’m happy to have you along for the ride!
A little backstory for you all: I currently live in Chicago, home to gorgeous architecture and so many decor inspirations, and of course the Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks (go sports, do the thing!). I come from a very small town in the country so although my interior inspiration has grown over time, you’ll definitely catch some of my small-town love in certain posts. I graduated from a school in the city and decided to stick around for a while since I loved Chicago so much. Although my degree is not in interior design, I’ve been decorating for as long as I’ve had my own space. It’s one of the things that makes me the most happy and drives my mother crazy when I start rearranging things in her house (sorry, not sorry, mom). More often than not, you’ll find me sitting at my coffee table which is redecorated every, oh, I don’t know let’s be conservative, 2 seconds. Coffee tables are my JAM. If I was stuck in a “Groundhog Day” universe where I wake up and have to redecorate my coffee table every day, you wouldn’t catch me complaining. Honestly, I think I take more pictures of my coffee table than parents take of their first born. Either way, you’ll be seeing it quite a bit. But, not to worry — I will be sure to include a variety of rooms and spaces to fill your inspirational decor void. Aside from my love for coffee tables, I’m also obsessed (in no order) with: anything or anyone hilarious a.k.a. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, flowers, puppies, pumpkins, leaves, autumn in general, pad thai, anything non-profit or volunteer related, and chic decor (of course). On that note, there are few things that make me as happy as working with amazing people who use their profits for good, like UNICEF, so if you or your company would like me to feature you in my blog, please contact me (see my email in the “About Me” section, below). So there you have it, everything you need to know about me for now, (I’ll send you all my social security number later).
And now it’s time for me to know about YOU my loyal, wonderful, beautiful subscribers. What are you looking to see in my blog? What are you hoping to see more of and learn how to do? This is as much a blog for you as it is for me so sound off in the comments below!
XO, Samantha
